Overview
This stage walks you through the high heart of the Kolonja region — a long arc across open pastureland, juniper slopes, and ancient village roads with the massive wall of Gramoz growing steadily ahead of you and the Nemërçka–Dhëmbel range filling the sky at your back. It is a stage of grand vistas and quiet village life in equal measure: reservoir lakes hiding on the hillsides, herds of cows grazing beside stone paths, the colourful village of Gjonç clinging to its slopes with views that stretch across two mountain ranges and down to Ersekë, the highest town in Albania.
Trail profile

Trail description
Starting from Sanjollas, the trail continues towards the WWII Memorial ahead of Barmash, followed by some relaxed walking through the Barmash Plain. Ascend the juniper-covered slopes, passing a rustic shepherd's hut as you gain expansive views over the Barmash Plain and its small reservoir.
Continuing steadily uphill, follow a stone path through pastures home to playful herds of cows, with the towering peaks of Mount Gramoz visible ahead. Once past the mountain shoulder, a large reservoir lake comes into view just outside of Gjonç. Enter the vibrant, colorful slopes of Gjonç, which offer exceptional vistas over both Gramoz and Ersekë, the highest town in Albania. If passing through Gjonç around May 22nd, you may catch the local Orthodox church festival, famed for its abundance of fresh apples.
From the village spring, follow the road and subsequent path toward Rehovë, overlooking the wide fields and highlands. As you walk directly toward the Gramoz massif, the spectacular Nemërçka–Dhëmbel mountain range frames the landscape behind you. Arriving in Rehovë, the path gradually drops down into the valley, overlooking wide agricultural fields before entering the cobblestone perimeter of Rehovë (1,160 m), right at the trailhead of the Mt. Gramoz ascent.
